My son has just made an offer on his first flat. DIY Dad will be doing some of the work required on it.

In the En-Suite bathroom, there is an existing shower tray (looks like 700mm square) up aginst two tiled walls that are probably stud walls. Son wants to replace the curtain with an enclosure.

Do I have to be overly concerned about the weight bearing capability of those walls if there isn't a stud behind the point where I'm fixing the vertical rails or will the tray take most of the weight of the glass?

Thanks
LV

Assuming timber studs if tray is like shown on plan you could well find timber.
Tray is probably 760mm measure carefully!
If you don't hit timber plug /screw through tiles silicon on back of wall profile will hold it (assuming tiles well fixed)

Most of the weight will be taken by the tray/floor, so nothing really to worry about. Drill the tiles and then use good fitting rawl plugs and a little bead of silicone and that should hold it without issue.
