Vaderrag,
The issue ban-all-sheds is highlighting is very valid.
On all (not just Chinese) production lines, they manufacture and grade goods to meet the Warranty their customer is demanding. And so buying from a Chinese ebay supplier means that the product is going to have (or had) some) issue.
So for example, in a Floppy Disk production line (if you remember those), their review the disks as they are produced for errors. Those that have zero errors they send to customers who demand a strong warranty (say USA or UK with their Lawyers). Those that have some errors they send to customers who demand a warranty (say mid-level brands). Those with many errors they send to markets with weak warranty demands (sorry to say Middle East and Africa). Then they sell the remainder off to re-sellers - and so we used to get piles of Floppy disks at very very low prices the town Market and car boot sales. Usually these were okay as the errors can be overlooked in normal use, but they always seems to fail when you had a critical need to keep the data, and although you can get your 10p back at market, you have forever lost your data.
The Chinese ebay market is similar as they can sell what I call production line re-works, or line rejects, or reject re-works, without full consideration of how they are repaired. Hence using the Chinese shipped Sonoff as an example it COULD have a fake relay, or it could have failed a isolation test, a dry solder joint or track error, or etc, etc.
However there is a very good chance you never see an issue. But the warning stands that buying from an unknown supplier means you do not know, so extra care should be taken.
A nice example of an Isolation test here which were recalled by PoundLand, but I bet you can now buy online.
