Adding an additional light

i want to add a light into the cuboard under the stairs. The consumer unit is located in that same space. Where do I put the wires into the unit (there is a seperate switch in the unit for d'stairs lights)United Kingdom

Do you have a switch that lets you isolate the consumer unit?
If not then I would not suggest going in there unless you know what you are doing. Even when you turn the consumer unit off it still has live wires in it.

There is an isolation switch in the unit, and I have testing equipment to check for live wires before proceeding.

As attm says even when a consumers unit is off there are still live wires inside.
