I currently have an old double oven and grill and it appears to be simply plugged into a double socket in the unit its housed in. I am replacing the kitchen and have been looking at ikea (i know people dont like ikea kitchens but thats another topic)

anyway my current hob is gas and the lighter seems to be powered by the same double socket.

now on ikea they have a couple of ovens some described as 10amp some as 13amp - none of them come with plugs.

anyway as far as an oven is concerned from ikea can i simply put a plug on it and replace the existing double oven (i am getting a single oven)

https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/mataelskare-pyrolytic-oven-stainless-steel-colour-30381017/

it seems to be a maximum of 2850 w

i know hotpoint sell similar ovens which come with plugs - the ikea one does not come with a plug though (hotpoint one is 2600 w)

so basically can i plug this into a standard socket (if i add a plug) or should i simply get the hotpoint one

also would i have an issue running a 13 amp hob along with the oven.

i would rather avoid the cost of fitting an extra supply etc

It won't be a ring for the oven, but a radial circuit.

Do you have a cooker switch above the worktop?

I would think, although obviously cannot be sure, that when the socket was fitted someone changed the fuse to a 15A one, so perhaps it is a standard cooker circuit with larger cable than the socket ring circuit so you could have whatever ovens and hobs you want.

Here is the double socket which is in the unit next to double oven. The left socket is the oven and the right one controls the ignition switch for gas hob

Good grief that plug needs re-wiring! Just realised it's T&E too!

They are for plugging in computers and electronic equipment.

The downside is the whole socket is limited to 13A (that’s both sides)

That's very odd

Can that box simply be changed over at a low cost

I have had a quote for a kitchen fit and the fitter suggests fitting a small upfront box so that the kitchen appliances are then RCD protected

My main box has a number of sockets ie separate

shower downstairs ring upstairs ring immersion point upstairs lights downstairs lights oven
