Hello
( I know this has probably been asked before, I have quite a rocky history of anxiety over asbestos, no joke I ended up in a psychiatric ward over it so I don’t know if my anxiety is starting or I have a reason to worry.)

I can’t find any information or pictures online to describe what i saw and I’m hoping some handy builders might know.
I had to remove a section of skirting board to fit my daughter’s bed in. I may of dug a little to hard to remove it and this white powder came out the wall where the skirting was.
The wall is the hollow type of wall not made from brick. Online it said about a dampness caused it but my house is bone dry I have no damp or mould anywhere.
The stuff was white, powder like almost like salt but more smooth. Could this be loose fill asbestos? The house is terraced and I’d say roughly build mid 80’s I know for fact the ceiling has asbestos artex so asbestos was used.

Thanks all

Gypsum plasterboard wall. That's white.
Maybe some gypsum dust?
Maybe, I can’t find anything online of anything similar to it. This was only visible to me as I had purposely dug into the wall by the skirting to get the skirting board off.

Plasterboard......don't worry.
i didn’t think anything of it until I started googling days later wondering what it was. It was very white like salt but smooth texture almost like flour. They wouldn’t have put asbestos in plasterboard in the 80’s?
Thanks

If you are truly concerned, you can get it tested via a kit you can order online....

I did think to do that, but really wasn’t sure if asbestos was even in a stud wall or if I had just ‘made the up in my head’
Well, asbestos was used in plasterboard many years ago. Just order a kit and get it tested if you are worried. Myself, I wouldn't be...
