Advice please for a rejected planning application

Doesn't the last paragraph support you, in that their side window isn't in their original house design and has been built on their boundary as a result of them extending their property. Wouldn't you be with your rights to put a six foot fence panel right in front of it?

Garyo, you may have a good point. I am not sure of the original layout of the neighbours property but am pretty sure that the room that is currently a study was originally a kitchen with a door at the far end to the garden. They built an extension for a new kitchen and blocked off the door to form a study. Will let you know if this helps. Many thanks.
 
All, sorry for not providing an update on this thread. For those that are interested we completely redesigned our plans so that the neighbors window would not be affected. It was disappointing that we had to take this approach but i couldn't see any alternative. The revised plans were accepted and the renovation is 6 weeks away from completion. We had to make some compromises on the upstairs layout but mostly downstairs is as we originally wanted.
