aerated block or concrete block?

Depends if you want to be able to easily fix stuff to the wall. Aerated can be a PITA to fix cabinets etc to if this extension was to be used as a kitchen for example.
Aerated blocks are easier to handle as they are lighter and also offer some insulation meaning you nees less cavity insulation.

I need some advice about foundation fill. I don't know the exact depth/ width the foundations need to be as i'm at planing stages.
I have a few questions as to how i should tackle the whole task.
Do i have to fill the foundations with hardcore+ sand and then concrete fill on top of that?
As for wooden marker pegs used to level the concrete fill, do i leave in the foundation or do i pull them out once concrete has been laid?

Pour the foundation concrete straight onto the earth trench bottom. Do not put anything else into the trench! Apart from pegs of course!
Leave all the trench pegs in as these are there so that you can level the concrete. Why and how would you remove them in any case...?
