Alarm Bell Box Not Working

My mother-in-law has a wired alarm system with an external bell box, which is usually illuminated 24/7 with white LED's.
However, the alarm control panel is now showing an error message and the bell box is no longer illuminated.
I can't remember the exact wording of the error message, but it was something like "lost connection to zone 7" (zone 7 is the bell box looking at the installation info).
The bell box appears to be completely dead and doesn't sound when the alarm goes off.
The system is nearly 5 years old.
My question is, could this error be caused by a dead battery in the bell box or is it more likely to be just a dead box or an issue with the wiring that goes to the bell box?

What brand does the keypad have on it?

And the external sounder?

The keypad is an Orisec CP-20, couldn't see any info on the bell box.

could this error be caused by a dead battery in the bell box
Yes. The system will have been professionally installed, is it regularly serviced? Normally batteries get checked/changed on a service visit. Speak to the people who are servicing it.

If it’s a back lit bellbox then it’s must have some type of external power source….either cable from the control panel or psu feed ( from the loft ? )

Wireless Orisec bell box’s are assigned to zones.

They can have 12V supply or battery supply.

Batteries are 4 x lithium 3.6V lithium AAs there is now an 8 battery unit available so they don’t have to be changed as often.

If it’s lost there is a signal issue between the wireless expander and the panel.

If the wireless bellbox has back light then it has to have 12V power supply, but if LEDs only on then it may just be run with batteries.
