I'd be inclined to fit a 13amp unswitched FCU behind the oven - just in case some engineer came to mend the oven, and said it's out of guarantee because no 13amp fuse.

However, tomorrow I'd be probably inclined to say something completely different, and say that the 16 or 20 amp mcb or rcbo is perfectly adequate, and that if the oven goes wrong, and it's more involved than a simple element, I'd probably say I won't bother with an engineer, and I'll get a whole new oven, partly because it's filthy dirty, and I don't want to clean it anyway.

I was thinking that might be a way to do it, for that very reason.

No. The oven does not need a 13A fuse.

If it were part of a cooker (in the UK) it would get a 32A MCB.



That they state fuse in this day and age and a rating less than the cable supplied proves they do not know what they are talking/writing about.

Well I am certainly in some agreement with you kiddo.
If they are selling to the UK market they should stipulate what practices therefore what fuse type or breaker type etc if any and they must state that correctly not just on some whim of an understanding.
Otherwise they should not be selling them to the UK market in the first place.


This means that they would not be able to hide behind any warranty etc because it does not comply with their error ( however you might have to show proof in court if it comes to that and it will cost you - never be put off though, they do sometimes try it on and sometimes you got to follow it through, I’ve seen it put people off but when they say “I tried” I reply “ no you have not tried! You have asked! Now try , follow it through!”)
