Alpha or Vaillant...or maybe another make

Our Baxi Bahama (don't laugh) needs replacing and our plumber has recommended getting an Alpha CD28C with a jig to hide the pipes which will give it a 5 year guarantee. Another plumber recommended a Vaillant EcoTec 28 Pro which has a 1 year guarantee. We live in a three bedroom terraced Victorian house with eight radiators, one bathroom and two of us live here.

Does anyone here have any anecdotal recommendations? I'm inclined to go with the Alpha since it has a 5 year guarantee but I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

the alpha is a reasonable quality budget boiler we have fitted a few and been happy with them.
the ecotec pro is a waste of time as for the price the 831 comes complete with the filling loop internal for around 50 quid more it also looks better as the front controls are covered

the vaillant is the better boiler either way.

If you want the 5 year guarentee, go for a Viessmann, or a Worcester CDi, which has a 3 year warranty if installed by a accredited installer. Better than both in my opinion :)
