I recently (about eight weeks ago) installed some 40mm solid oak worktops in my kitchen, I treated them with four coats of oil and used a foil protective barrier in the area above the dishwasher. Over the past few weeks I have noticed that the length of worktop over the dishwasher has started to bow in the midde (across the width) by about 5mm now and this has in turn started to lift the sealant around the sink which is further down the same length. The far end of the length (which is around 2.6m in total) at the joint shows no signs of bowing (yet). If it stays like it is then it is barely noticeable and not a problem but if it gets too much worse then I have concerns. I followed all the instructions and advice for fitting these worktops took nearly two weeks and was rather pleased with the results now I fear all my efforts may have been in vain!

Any advise would be really appreciated. :(

How did you attach the worktops? Did you screw them down tight or did you give some allowance for movement (e.g. oversize holes in fittings and a washer used with screw, so the screw could move in the fixing hole a bit)
