Alternatives to these (costly) old-style rads

Well if you want a low volume product only sold in specialist shops then expect to pay luxury prices. The people who buy them are not concerned by price.

Otherwise use ordinary rads like the rest of us!

Thanks - I realise this, hence I mentioned it :D

But in many cases for things like this, there are often cheaper 'copies', or similar items that are much cheaper.

I'm going for standard rads for all but three.

Because the sales volume is so low I doubt there are any cheaper copies.

Most suppliers would give you a discount if you buy three but some of those fancy suppliers know they have an exclusive product and expect you to pay their price.

If you know a professional plumber then he might be able to get a good discount but dont count on it! Even if he did then he might want to keep it !

Have you thought about a Building Salvage auction or specialist & going for the real thing rather than repro; they won’t be cheap but I can’t imagine one would cost £1200 even with blasting & refurbishment.

PTS and plumbcentre do a far cheaper version than your link . Dont go by catalogue price as you will get a good discount on them even without being trade. Just ask.

Made by myson and stelrad but dont think they come with feet

I fitted some of those Anconas a couple of weeks ago, very nice rads, they were supplied by Plumbase, and as has been suggested they were cheaper than the book price. You won't get trade discount as a 'man off the street' but they might give you something.

I think it's a question of would you buy a Skoda when you really want a rolls.

Have a look at MHS and Ideal radiators.

A 1.8m x 600mm 3 column stelrad classic 8314 btus £877.60, less trade.

An myson 1.4m x 600mm 6219 btus £478.56.

Thanks for input - have contacted a few more merchants, and they were able to give a discount on list price.

Ended up biting the bullet and ordering the Anconas. Ended up being £940 for the big ones, so not astronomically more than the Stelrad classics.

I just prefer the 'mottled copper' they do, more than the plain colours.

Tip;

Make sure it is transported and carried in the upright position, and NOT laid flat or it will damage it.

Thanks for tip; apparently they come from Italy, so not sure how much control I have over that. I can but ask!

In that case they maybe boxed in a frame.

Do check they aren't delivered in sections.
