An iron for the 21st century

It is a good idea Spacecat. It was used , I would think, in every laundry in the country, if not the world, in the 50's so why wouldn't it work now?
At that time it was mainly used for table and bed linen.
 
It may be of interest to note that that the two years old iron that I use at the moment cost about £12 from Tesco. Its predcessor cost just under £60 and lasted just over the guarantee period.
