Hi all

Bathroom have floorbords ontop of joists

decided going to strip them all and just replace with 25mm plywood maybe put hardbacker on it….

question

can i just put the 25mm ontop of the joists and screw in a line on top plywood right into the joists do i need noggins?

i think they are 400mm apart and no noggins

im thinking around the whole bathroom in the edges put noggins? So can screw edges of plywood into this?

my plan is to tile ontop of this and remove creaks forever

Yes, go ahead.
18mm plywood would be more than enough.
Use hardwood ply, not the structural.

No i am taking then all out

There are cracked ones and broken ones
In that case, get 25mm plywood.
But why getting rid of floorboards?
Replace the few broken pieces and screw the ply down through the floorboards into the joists (good marking essential)

Hmm maybe i might leave them its because i think over time regardless floorboards squeek so even if i fix them it wont resolve issue long term
