yeah because i have a merc!!!!!!!!! real world live in it!!!! £25ph cash if you work a 8hr day £200 do the math it isn"t a client fault if he hasn"t enought faults to fix in a day but i think in this day and age £50 a hr is pathetic don"t think john terry on that!!!!!!!

Russ how do you arrrive at £200 figure. What makes you think a service engineer will be working 8 chargeable hours a day?

To charge £25.00 per hour is ONLY posssible if earning are not declared, transport is paid for by someone else, one does not have insurance cover to quote a few examples. Another thing you fail to take into account is some days it is one step forward, three back. Other calls one has to abandon the job to go looking for parts that are not found just round the corner or found at the bottom of the pile in the van.

Get real. You obviously are now waking up the fact that there are many so called heating engineer who are part changers and have yet to meet someone who takes pride in his work and will effect repairs or not charge. Such service is not and cannot be provided at £25.00 per hour and then have to cover the overhheads.

A field engineer would be very happy if he could get £25.00 per hour, ever hour of his working week. But that does not happen in real life. This is only imagined by newspapers and some who are unable to understand real life scenarios..

John Terry is on 7,264.92 per hour based on him working a 40 hour week.

I wish there was a clap clap clap (and not that kind) icon DP.

Some people just dont get it, and as for those who think we can all just show up diagnose the fault in an instant and then just have the part in our van well.....

On fri of last week i was asked to go to a job at 4 to change a diaphram assy as they were getting heating but no hw (phone diagnosis) (same boiler 80 eco) 10 min job, soaked the pcb through not concentrating, head went pop and was still there at 7pm, charged the customer nowt as problem not fixed.
Sorted my head out over weekend and spoke to some guys on here, never got answer from here but worked it out in my head and guess what i was right.
It involved a shoe cupboard, shoes and a 3/4 open ECV.
Hey they were willing to pay for a new PCB.
Ended up with one hour labour and they were willing to pay for all four all for a job 40 miles from home.

Trust me you dont even wanna know what i wasted an hour on today (and again another 80 eco)

now i"m not trying to tell you how to suck eggs but seriously how many things can be wrong with a boiler?

there must be a sequence of tests and if the fault is found i e first hr engineers expect at least £60 / £70 then to fit the part which lets say changing pcb board or pressure sw what 10mins you want another £30/£50 plus liitle extra on the parts when wholesalers is a massive 10mins away.

How would you like it if a spark found the fault in 1hr then changed sw 2 min job then charged you £140 gone in less then 2hr come no one likes getting ripped off.

Anyway i"ve had 2 lads round still not fixed boiler and they wanted paying get real.......

yeah a fixed boiler..... i notice you know your stuff all you say is electrode lead......ha ha ha ha

Don't bother Kev....the guy's a muppet. Opened 4 posts on this one and STILL won't listen.

Just another tight ar@e who complains when the idiots he employs rip him off.....

£50 PER HOUR AND £12 FOR PART.

£62 Quid i make it whats the problem there
yea you get someone round for £25 per hour and he will charge you for the british gas sales favorite the good old pcb board has blown mate £180 total fee matey .
are yea getting ma drift russ,
But because you think great i only paid £25 hr your getting a better deal your a con mans dream whats yea number xmas is a coming a need a new merc myself.

come on someone who has a hnc, hnd in electrical engineering do you honestly think i was going to get anyone round jsut thought i would wind a few ididots up and it has worked plus got enough information on here to figure the fault out so boiler works and i know just a little bit more than i did before about boilers for future reference because i know some cranks on here won"t give out information for nothing for some strange reason

cheers easy night all!!!!!!!! lovely warm house!!!!
