Need to do a cheap makeover until we can replace the kitchen in the house we moved into.Painting unit doors etc but any advice on the best thing to do with the tiles? we have some that have a picture on and since it is slightly raised I suppose you will still be aware of it when its painted - any thoughts on this as well?
Thanks for any help

If its a quick makeover, any oilbased undercoat and satinwood or eggshell will do it. That said, as the tiles are shiney the paint wont adhere for a long time. If you catch it with something then it will chip and possibly come off. You can buy tile paint which self primes itself but its not the nicest of paints to use. Extra coats of undercoat would be needed to get rid of any dark coloured patterns.

I ususlly just clean off with amonia or sugar soap, and one /2 coats of gloss only. Thinn the gloss slightly to impeove flowout. Used to do this on old outside pubs lol.. worked tho
