Any opinions on if sound proofing is worth it?

Hi all, sorry if this is on the wrong forum section.
I have recently moved into a new house and unfortunately have moved next door to the classic neighbour from hell, it's actually turned fairly serious where my car has been vandalised and my wife has had abuse in the street.
Anyway part of the issue is noise (both ways, him saying my child /wife are making too much noise and him blasting happy hardcore dance music at night) one thing I'm considering is sound proofing. I have contacted a few companies however they all make different recommendations and have wildly different prices. For example 1 company says solid metal bars and a false wall is key whereas others say this is a bad approach as the bars reverberate and make more noise. Also the quotes differ from £1k to over £3k for the same upstairs 2 bedroom walls.
Basically I'm just hoping for some independent advice from anyone who either installs this or has had it installed. I'm wondering if it actually makes any difference or if it is money down the drain?
Thanks

No, don't believe the hype it will make little difference.

The amount you would have to spend, and the practicalities of installation gives little gain for what you lose.

Your neighbour will get the most benefit as it will keep your sound in, not the opposite.
