Any types what wood stove to choose?

Choose one with a door and ash tray that seal properly. If air leaks in you won't be able to control the fire.
Decide what sort of air control you want. Usually, there will be an air intake at the bottom and a flap valve in the chimney outlet.
Apart from that there are size and aesthetic considerations, which only you can decide. You might also like to check on availability and ease of replacement for items such as the glass.

I will be looking into wood burners too at some point. So far, I just know that there are two types to consider: a convector stove or a radiant stove. I found their definitions here: http://www.backwoodsman-stoves.co.uk/MAINMENUS/Glossary.html#anchor85200

Which ever type of stove you buy, get it installed by some one who is Hetas registered.
Dont go to big on the stove as you need it burning correctly to avoid tarring up.
I have a Villager multi fuel stove, with air wash system, keeps the glass clean.
An eco fan sat on top is a good idea as it convects the heat out.

Not mentioned so far, kilowatt output.
You need to ascertain the coldest immediate local temperature ever recorded. Then find out the expected heat loss from the room, then try and find a stove with a higher output than required, as temperatures are getting lower as we move into the next ice age and heat loss calculations are really only a guess as you cannot see inside the walls.

I went for a Carron 4.7kW RED log-burner for lots of reasons; it didn't need a vent, being under 5kW so no draughty hole in the wall. It is unusual, being red, and it looks fantastic! I've used it lots of times in the last month and absolutely love it.
I like Jotul and Morso, to name just a couple....I like the idea of the ecofan though, but its a bit on the pricey side.

- Proberbly 80% of all narrowboats that are used all year round have a stove, and 90% of all of them are morso squiralls, without or without back boiler. Ecofan is nice to look at and doesnt do nothing, but its a lot of money for not much fan. Far better to have a radiator off it.

Had stoves for years and HETAS registered, Morso are good Squirrel is really a coal burner though as quite narrow (hence why it's used on boats) I agree Jotul are also good, not for coal though as they are Norwegian ! If you want to cook as well then Josef Davidssons are also good www.josefdavidssons.co.uk. I would also look at iron heart from Esse as used by Hugh fear let "eats it all"

I've got a Portway Contemporary 2 7Kw and I love it, nice big glazed area so you can see the flames, very efficent and a nice big ash tray so it's easy to clean.
Best advice I can give is to shop around, I have quotes for supply of the stove only that varied by over £300. Before anyone passes comment, I then subsequently had it installed by a HETAS engineer.
