Hi everyone

I am wondering whether anyone else on here has done a fast track type training course and if so how it went for them? I parted with £12500 (don't laugh) for 3 training courses. By half way through the second I admitted what I already knew, it was basically a con and that they were more interested in making money than training.

The training was utterly appalling, with instructors setting mock exams then falling asleep at the front of the class, setting tasks then disappearing for ages leaving us all scratching our heads and effectively trying to train each other, telling us that they preferred to make the training more like a building site, and that we wouldn't have anyone looking over our shoulders once we finished training etc, we were literally just given diagrams and left to get on with it with no trainer input whatsoever for hours on end. The whole thing was a huge con job, with the most shoddy level of training I have ever seen, and I have been on several training courses over the last 20 years.

Obviously I have complained and asked for the money back on the course I haven't yet started, the rest of the course I have just cancelled and also a percentage of the electricians course I attended that was a complete farce. I ended up buying an online course to help me understand the rubbish the instructor at the training centre was coming out with.

There might be some people on here that have had great experiences with these course, however my advice is to steer well clear. They don't train you to do a job, they train you pass practical assessments and pass exams. You don't get the level of training and support that the sales guys sell to you and when you complain you get nowhere.

Its been an expensive mistake for me however I will be posting on every forum I can find in the hope other people don't get stung also.

I am holding off naming and shaming the company in question until I speak again with my solicitor tomorrow but my intention is that anyone that googles their name finds some random post cataloguing their disgraceful behaviour.

I have read a number of posts on your forums advising people against these fast track courses. I wish I had found them earlier as i couldn't agree more with that advice now!!

If anyone wants to PM with their own experiences then please do feel free to do so.

You do right bud.
Name and shame them-- but only after you have sorted out the legal stuff.

I will do mate. Utterly furious with them and annoyed with myself. It all sounded soooooo good when they were selling it to me though...

if you can afford to lose 12.5 k then you can afford a solicitor,i would be thinking of going down the legal route and telling them so aswell.
these sort of places DO NOT want bad publicity.

Hi Gregers

the truth of it is I can't afford to lose 12.5k at all. I could afford to invest 12.5k in training that would equip me for a future career, I didn't expect it to turn out to be a total farce and a joke, at my expense.

This will go legal. As much as I don't like to throw good money after bad I think my costs will be the best investment made over the last few months!!

I'm lucky that my wife works for a large law firm and although this isn't her specialist area she can at least guide me to the right person to deal with this. I am just utterly gutted that I have been shafted. This isn't some back-street throw-together college, this is one of the top colleges you find when googling training for electrician courses and plumbing courses etc. I just didn't expect the training to be so completely and utterly s**t!! I live and learn.

If I can get cleared to go public with the name tomorrow I will update this post and get busy posting in every single damned forum I can find. I am slow to anger but my god I am truly p****d off now!

It doesn't help that I have been liaising with the training director of said college, and he doesn't even bother to answer my emails now. That just says so much about what you can expect once you scratch below the surface of the glitzy sales talk...

the trouble you will have if you name any company directly the admin will have remove it
better to be vauge but leave enough clues

aaaaaah good point - I am learning much this week! :)

I will have to think of a vague way of letting everyone know exactly which company it is. I will sleep on that one, shouldn't be too difficult!!

I am truly p****d off, but I have a feeling I will enjoy the payback...

thats the spirit m8ty,

well i was going to suggest the cab office, but as you have a personel adviser i wont bother ;)
all i can say is best of luck, wonder if the sales of goods act applys???

the sales of goods act is a good starting point from what I have been told.

I really couldn't give you a clue, it would be unethical etc etc etc but... from hereon in lets refer to them by a completely fictitious and unassociated name of QE Trading.

I'm unsure about being more specific at the moment; I know I can't be done for libel or slander as everything is backed up by a number of witness statement, photographs and videos, but in these litigious time one has to be coy. My understanding is that if they took action against me for naming and shaming they would have to prove that my comments were untrue or unsubstantiated, and that my comments had caused them a loss. I know I can substantiate my comments and I don't want to cause them a loss, and I just want to prevent their potential future clients from being caused a loss.

Anyway, for the time being QE Trading it is!

im also thinking how about contacting 'watchdog'
im sure this is right up there street in investigating.

Doing a quick Google and some probably wrong detective work and knowing what i have read on this and other forums i am going to say

QE Trading is probably RFtraining (Reactfast)

Q - 1 Letter = R
E + 1 Letter = F

Points if i am right?

That is just outrageous and I couldn't possibly confirm or deny! But hey, top points for the detective work!!! ;)

React fast were bought out by Homeserve over 2 years ago. RF training is a new company.
