The Falklands are once again rearing their head, with a forthcoming 30 year anniversary, the placement of the next in line to the throne on there for a few month, a battleship and now a nuclear sub.

I take it we'll be drilling soon and living the life of riley as we rake in all that money.

There's not a lot of oil down there in the big scheme of things.

They've published information. I've never spoken to D Cameron but I know what he says.

Anyway, an estimated 60 billion barrels under there might help a little bit for a short while.

You are a maths teacher. We use 87 million barrels per day. How many decades will that keep us going for then? It won't be cheap either as it's difficult terrain.

Now then, let me see.

60billion divided by 87 million = 689.655 days = 1.889 years = 0.1889 decades.

Approximate cost per barrel nowadays is $100 which is about £65.

60 billion barrels at £65 per barrel = £3.9 trillion

See what you mean, it's not worth the effort

I think you might want to check those figures again teacher.

Am using the laptop's basic calculator.

Can't find the error you're alluding to (assuming 1 billion = 1000 million and 1 trillion = 1000 billion, and £1 is about $1.5)
