Hi, I have just bought a 1970s semi and have found out we asbestos in the artic on the ceiling. I am hoping just to leave it and hopefully at some point get it removed but in the kids bedroom there is a sliding door rail screwed into the ceiling. Can I just remove this? With a screwdriver wearing face mask and Goggles? Any help much appreciated. Thanks!

HSE guidance here for drilling into artex with asbestos in it: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...kQFnoECCMQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0oqkZTvuK4p4CJ9WXmX39m

Obviously you are doing the reverse of drilling, but some useful advice in there. Removing a screw shouldn't create that much dust so I personally wouldn't bother with the plastic sheeting etc. (not saying either way whether you should or not - up to you) but a blob of shaving foam or something similar as you remove the screw could be worthwhile.
