Just because it looks like it is, doesn't mean it is, might be worth checking with the maker as to its exact composition (and just because it looks white, doesn't mean its not blue or brown apparently!)

We have a "don't touch" policy because some people are susceptible to just one fibre (unlike passive smoking) which would spoil their retirement.
Interestingly enough, did you know that smokers or more at from asbestos than non smokers (all to do with the cancer causing process is complex and relies on different types of damage)

we took the switch gear out yesterday and went for brake, while we were having some food some gipsiys came on to site and nicked a load of scrap steel and about 10 of the isolators.

does that count as safe removal?

Perhaps not, but its not your problem anymore (and if the gypos die from cancer is anyone really going to care  )

if you can leave the fuses in the holders then even better,
i have just been to this one today. i pulled the fuse out and saw this. but put it straight back. not enough to disturb it, is it?

****** are fantastic for removal of hazardos waste!

I removed a load of old switch gear a few years ago lots of asbestos in it as flash arresters door seals etc

local ****** removed the lot one night after i left it with some copper on display....
