Hi all,

I've just moved to a new (old, 1955) house and am in the process of laying new flooring.

It's a bungalow and the floors are solid. I have taken up the old carpet and some rooms have these old tiles. I'm unsure as to whether they are made of or are likely to contain asbestos and would be unsafe to remove. They are hard but break quite easily, I would describe them as brittle.

A couple of the floors which have similar tiles just of different colours require levelling and I am also not sure if I can prime onto these and then screed the floors or whether i should remove them, something I would like to avoid!

Any advice or opinions welcome and appreciated!

Cheers

Yes Marley tiles almost certainly asbestos, my advice would be use self adhesive tiles to make up the level leave the tiles alone and lay laminate over the floor.
