I have stripped out my lath and plaster of my bathroom and i am left with my studwork:

Some of the wedges into the wall arnt secured.

What are my best options? Strip it all out and reinstall wood studs? How would i attach the the brick?

So I should use the existing studwork? Should I put blocks of wood behind where I am screwing?

Yes, pack out the existing studs so that they don't bounce....don't overdo it though - keep 'em nice and straight.

Olympic fixings express anchors.
Drill a hole and drive them in. Fast and effective.

If its an outside wall then insulate between the battens and use insulated backed plasterboard for the top layer.

Just use a plug and a screw.

Don't use anything fully threaded like concrete screws because the thread will also grip the batten and will not allow you to adjust. You can do it this way but you will have to faff about packing prior to fitting the screw.

Thanks for evryones input!

I ended up putting spacers behind the wood and i bought the concrete screws you hammer in (120mm long). They worked a treat, its solid now as i done this 4 times on each stud!

And i got all the nails out, a total pain!!!!!!!!
