Have been asked to connect up an automatic/electric gate. The unit contains a sensor, which i assume is probably for a remote control.

Having never done one before, and working on the basis of arriving to find no instructions remaining with the kit (I have worked for this company before and they are disorganised to say the least). Could anyone provide a description or wiring diagram for such a set up. Many thanks in advance

oh come on.. no make / model of gate / sensor?
we're good but not that good..

get on the phone to the people who put the gate in and DEMAND that they send the idiot who fitted it back with the / a copy of the instructions..

I agree with ColJack.
There's a lot to consider

Inductive loop or button for gate opening?
Feeds to gate motors
Gate sensors
Pedestrian button
Entry intercom
etc
etc

Its DAYS of wonderful fun. Even better that you are doing it in January
