Awkward Downlights

Hi there,

I have some downlights in my bathroom that are a nightmare. The covers won't come off to change the bulbs. They are just the twist ones. When I try to remove the entire downlight it feels like I will pull the ceiling/plaster down. I have already popped the plaster on the one in the shower

Question one has to be, are the lights fitted with bulbs? Seems daft, I know, but some lamps are integral units, and you can't change the bulbs. And when you can, the G5.3 connection, often used with extra low voltage lamps, does not really retain the bulb, so often a large circlip holds the bulb in place, the low voltage (230 volts) version, often uses a bayonet type connection called GU10 which will hold the bulb in place, and often needs a sucker

to grip the bulb to remove it. I can't tell from the picture what you have, but seems likely integral units.

They are not integral units. I have changed the bulbs on the other two in the bathroom but these three are a complete nightmare.

Stuck to the paint? Run a stanley knife blade around behind the bezel and then try again
