Baked beans

My beans arrived and have been eaten. I had a quick squint at the info on the tin, haricot beans blah blah blah, packed in Italy blah blah blah, contains 49% beans! 'kinell, that's not much, so I checked a tin of Branston, 51% beans, so not a huge difference. They weren't too bad,-a bit small and a bit hard, my daughter said they weren't as sweet as Heinz, but then a bar of Cadbury Dairy milk is not as sweet as a tin of Heinz beans. Would I buy again? Probably not, unless they were the only beans available anywhere. I just cannot get over the fact that they were 49p DELIVERED.

I eat beans so infrequently that I want extra salt. I have a mate who employs s me from time to time. When he gives me his Heinz low salt/sugar, I add more salt. I like salt...

Bigger than the Amazon ones and not hard. A much richer sauce and not as sweet as Heinz . I just can't stomach Heinz beans, though I expect with makes of beans it is personal taste.
Are we all cooking beans in a pan and finishing them with a knob of butter ?

I used to buy cheap beans when I was a single man, added a little tomato purée and hot sauce.

I do that quite often. But Sainsbury's beans never seem to go creamy like Heinz. Does it work well with Branston ones.

I meant the same pan the bacon was fried in.

I used to have a dedicated frying pan for making pilau rice. Unfortunately, she who no longer speaks to me used it for frying bacon and beggered it up.

Like you, I often used the pan the bacon was fried in to cook my beans. Not only did it absorb the taste of the bacon, it saved on washing up.

If you want an unhealthy but tasty treat, make a bacon sandwich, don’t cut it in half, but pop the whole sandwich back in the pan and fry both sides of the sandwich in the bacon fat. Delish.
