Why are there so many banal posts on this forum?

I was just thinking the same thing. I have been registered for a while on this site, but decided to take a look at some others. I have been looking at the posts on ukplumbersforums, and it was like a breath of fresh air.
It seemed to be run by adults, for adults. The posts are answered without insults, or belittleing the OP. It was a much friendlier atmosopere, where help is given(as it is on here), but without the usual clever-Dicks and smartarses competeing to take the pi$$. They know who they are!
You are taken seriously, no matter how many posts you have made in the past. There is a strong clique on Diynot with thousands of inane posts to their names, who ignore, belittle and patronise other less 'timeserved' members.
Don't get me wrong, there are some decent people on here, who give there time to help other people. Its just that on the other site,you don't get the smart-ar$es, who soon get away from the subject at hand by trying to score points, insulting people and wasting people's time.I have allowed myself to be drawn into this mindset on occasion.

Lighten up on this board, its for 'General Discussion' and letting things go where you can have a bit of a laugh and relax.
I agree, on some of the 'serious' boards there can be a bit of point scoring going on but I have found that on most forums I have visited.
Part and parcel of the scene I suppose, after a while you learn who they are and skim through their posts.
there are a couple of people intent on making things difficult for others, i believe at least a couple have multiple accounts and on some threads they even talk to themselves, very sad really youd think that they have better things to do.

They are banal ie, common and boring to the point of being predictable and containing nothing new or fresh, because many of the members (eg******) lack the brainpower to make intelligent contributions; some have tunnel vision (eg *** **) and turn all threads to their favourite topic and some (eg me), have quite frankly overstayed their welcome.
