I am replacing a bathroom extractor fan with a new pull cord one. I had anticipated being able to simply swap in the new one as all measurements are the same. Having taken the cover off the old one, it all looks straight forward.
However, the instructions with the new one say that 'a double pole fused spur having a contact separation of at least 3mm in all poles MUST be used and fitted with a 3 amp fuse and must be sited outside any room containing a shower or a fixed bath.'
The existing one seems to be connected to an unswitched fused spur. (I'm attaching a picture, I'm not 100% certain I'm calling it the right thing. - The images have come out upside down, hopefully they still show what I'm talking about.) but it's INSIDE the room.
I guess my question is whether it's safe simply to switch the new one in or whether I need to be doing further work, and perhaps calling in a professional.
