If I was on a space shuttle and the only thing I could find to fix the thing which lowers the landing gear was a bit of bare wire, then I would use it. So never say never. But yes, I meant 3 core plus earth and 2 core plus earth.

I agree absolutely with your position, but often the makers of these things specify lower rated protection, knowing that many times people won't bother, particularly with timed-overrun fans, because that gives them a get-out clause if the fan goes wonky. If/when it goes pop you can argue all you like that a smaller fuse would have made no difference - they won't listen.

You can't.

You have to fit two separate ones, or either do this:
