Our bathroom extractor fan died. Looks like a be snarled one of the blades (wouldn't turn till I fished it out) and it may have burnt out the motor.

Anyway, I am changing the unit and I cant work out the (simple) wiring. The unit I am putting in is the model up with a timer. The old one had 2 terminals and this one has 3 (L, L1 and N) and 4 wires coming into it 2 browns and 2 blues. It is double insulated so no earth.

I checked the wires and they are as follows.

Brown - constant live not switched.
Brown - Nothing
Blue - Nothing, but when browns are together it is switched
Blue - Nothing.

How do I wire it up?

Usually L - Permanent (constant) live
L1 - Switched live
N - Neutral
Cover the CPCs (earths) with green&yellow sleeve an place out of the way. Do not cut them.

Do you mean the first Blue is live when the Browns are connected? If so, does it not switch off and on with the light switch?

Sorted. It does have it's own switch.

Both browns to L. One blue to N and the other to L1.

Thanks anyway.

Ok. Blue to L1 should be sleeved with Brown or marked with brown tape to indicate its use as live conductor.
