Don't do it like that.
Firstly the switch is a permanent live feed and a switched live. You will need a live and neutral. This will involve a bit of wall chasing and also investigation into your existing circuit for the required feeds. It is also notifiable under Part P. Please get a professional in to do this as it is clear from the pictures you are not 100% knowledgable in electrics. I hope you didn't turn it on connected like that.

Don't think part p applies in belfast.
You also need a new switch as it looks like someone has smashed the side out of the old one.
As others have said, you could do with getting an electrician in to do it properly.

were you being sarky Sparky123?

Me thinks the OP made the hole so that flex to the mirror light could come out of the side of the pullcord.

And of course she/he switched it on like that - otherwise why would she/he be posting on here!

Can this be used with a plug then just?
Why?

Have you got a socket in the bathroom?

Carrying out electrical work without understanding it is a very bad idea. Following instructions to "put this wire in that hole" without knowing why, and without knowing how it works, is to be strongly discouraged.

If you really do not know how something as simple as a 1-way switch works then you really should not be attempting to do this job. Yes - of course everybody has to start somewhere, but you should start by acquiring a solid foundation of knowledge, not by diving into actually doing when you don't know how to do something so simple.

Please spend some time learning how electrical circuits work, what switches do, etc, before having a go - particularly with bathroom electrical installations.
