Maybe the T&G ceiling is a drop ceiling with a large cavity.
If it's in easy reach and over the bath I'd assume you'd also say 12v to be on the safe side?

Yes, that's possible.
If it were easily touchable fro bath or shower, I suppose I might be inclined to say that - wouldn't you? To be frank, I'd probably just avoid having any light which was directly over a bath/shower (i.e. in, or a little above, zone 1).

Yeah it is quite low. The previous owners put laminate and some silver insulation tiles on the floor which also raised it and I'm gonna check under the lost insulation to see is it's plasterboard above the wood t&g.

Indeed so - and that's what really matters. However, as I've said, in terms of the 'notification rules', the measurement to ceiling is taken from 'finished floor level', not from inside the bath!Obviously in the bath your even closer to the ceiling
