Bathroom wall and floor prep for tiling

T

TwoByFour

Hi all, I'm redoing my bathroom and would like some advice and/or guidance.

The walls in the bathroom are stud/new plaster and the floor is WBP ply. I want to create a wet room so have been looking at hardiebacker, aqua panel, wedi and other systems out there but I'm a little bit confused. How should the walls and floor be constructed before tanking?

I plan to get a pro tiler in but would like to undertake as much of the other work as possible to keep costs down.

Thanks!

there are tanking systems out there suitable to go over what you have there.
However unless you have a really big bathroom I would spend the money on a decent sized tray based shower, maybe a walk in if you want the open feel.
Wet rooms sound great but the reality is you end up with water sloshing around everywhere.

Any recommendations for what tanking system to use on the plastered walls? Even if I don't go for a wet room, I'd still like to tank in the shower and around the bathtub.

I've used aquatecnic in the past, which is a paint on membrane, but haven't done one for ages. I have heard good things about the impey system which is a sheet based system
