Can anyone please advise? The boiler is a Baxi Bahama 100, is approx 7 years old, the problem is the hot water. When the hot water has not been used for an hour or so and we go to turn on the hot water tap, the boiler ignites when the tap is turned on, hot water starts running through, then after approx 60 - 80 seconds the boiler cuts out and has to be turned off and re-set before we can get hot water again. Once this has been done it continues to supply hot water until it is left standing any lenghth of time, then it happens again. The boiler has been fully serviced twelve months ago and at that time had new flow switches to the heating and water supplies as this was the same problem then. It has also has a new fan fitted. Seeing this seemed to be the same problem as last time the flow switch to the hot water has been removed and bench tested and it working perfectly, it is not sludged up or damaged in any way but the problem still remains. Since the flow switches were fitted twelve months ago it has given us no trouble up till the present time. Can any one shed any light on this? Any advice would be welcomed.

This seems to be an overheating problem.

Few engineers are very happy working on your boiler! Many will recommend that you replace it with something more maintainable.

OMG !!!!
First of all thank you for replying to my post. How come they are so unpopular? My hubby say's we cant afford to replace it just yet so it looks like it will have to be repaired. If it's overheating can you tell me what parts are going to have to be changed? and any other info you can give me............like where do I find a really good trustworthy engineer?
thanks once again, regards LIZ

Check the air pressure switch tubes etc for splits or blockage.

This may be a suitable candidate for a fixed price repair by the makers Heat Team at about £212 .

However, even after its repaired its still a Bahama.

Many would say the £212 would be better spent put towards a new boiler.

Is you husband going to buy a new car soon?

The flow switches are the most common fault on this boiler which i have experienced and they may well have only been replaced 12 months ago but if the system is dirty and has not been cleaned correctly then the debris and sludge can get into the flow switch and cober the moving magnetic part of the switch that is located in the wet part of switch housing.

I have also seen the plastic air pressure switches inside the combustion area melt and fail

Does the red flame failure light come on

If so check flame rectification probe
