Hi guys, I'd appreciate some help from someone more knowledgeable than me!

I've got a Baxi 45/4m boiler and fire, the pilot seems to go out over night, but a family member lights it in the morning (for the last week) - a little investigation seems to point towards a 'thermocouple'.

Not being my house, I've never lit it before but the owner of the house is away and I'm looking after the place but can't seem to light the thing!

I've read the instructions on the panel under the fire but can't seem to light it. On the bright orange thermostat dial there is no black spot that the instructions refer to, so I've tried lighting it with it both on high and on 0 - nothing seems to work, can anybody give me any help in regards to fixing it.

They are getting it serviced, but that doesn't really help me much at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

To gain access to the boiler requires removal of fire front.
This can only be carried out by corgi registered installer.

I just want to light the pilot, but i can't seem to do it, despite it being lit this morning.

Press in the grey button and hold it in,press the black button a few times which will cause a spark and ignite the pilot, keep the grey one pressed in for 10 seconds after it has ignited, let go and it shoul;d stay a light if thermocouple is ok.

a little investigation seems to point towards a 'thermocouple'.

Further investigation might prove you right, or find fault on pilot assembly,
either way you need a corgi reg engineer.

I appreciate you want to light it, but if thermocouple has gone you have no hopes :(

stat on 0
press and hold gray button while pressing igniter button hold gray button 10 secs then release slowly

then turn the stat up

As I recall these have an ASD type set up. If they are not serviced regularly the sensor tube / pilot air intake area gets blocked easily causing the flame to go out. Its annoying that they need more attention than older back boilers but it is better than dying of carbon monoxide poisoning.
