Just looking for some thoughts really.
My system (Baxi Bermuda) was switched off about three weeks ago. I removed an upstairs radiator, and a few weeks later looked at the valves the removed radiator had been fitted to before starting the job.
Overnight I discovered that by looking at the valves in preparation to replacing the radiator with a new one, the loosest valve which was wobbling about on the end of the pipe had leaked, so water had been pouring out of the system for about 10-12 hours.
So I frantically tied up the ball valve in the header tank and also turned off the boiler by using the mains switch next to the boiler on the wall and set about mopping up.
I had the new radiator fitted last week and turned the system on again. We started from zero and lit the pilot again, and now the boiler only lights occasionally and when it does catch it goes out and back down to the pilot in about 2 minutes.
I called out a household name last week, that didn't even look properly just said 'you should have bleed the system and the person that fitted the new radiator should have done all that'.
Yesterday it seemed that some pipes, the one upstairs to the new radiator were warm, and the upstairs radiator in the bedroom nearest the boiler was opened up (the valves turned to open as usually off) and that radiator was warm and the water bled from it was warm.
I have always wondered about the replaced radiator as it always seemed on, as though it was on some special circuit as even with system set to just H W it seemed to heat up.
Today I have gone round and bled water from all radiators, found a dead end pipe next to the boiler that was getting very warm and bled that too, and there is also a valve vertically below the bolier and I bled that for a while too. When bled there does seem to be a fair amount of air noise.
I can't detect any pump noise.
Any ideas why the boiler goes out after approx. 2 minutes?
Would air in the system cause so much grief?
But at least warm water in a radiator last night.
