My parents are buying a new house, built early 1990s at a guess.

The boiler is a Baxi Solo 2 (80PF) and was last serviced 5 years ago, though it does seem to basically work.

When they eventually move in, I will insist that they get an RGI to service it.

But in the meantime, what's everyone's opinions on these? Too long in the tooth? Unreliable? Or a reasonable bet if well-maintained? Anything to look out for?

Thanks.

C.

Get it serviced regularly and it will be a reliable boiler

Known faults that I come across are fans and pcbs causing constant pump overrun other than that not had many problems

Lack of maintenance in the past my have reduced it's lifetime and reliability

PCB's can be unreliable and the fan will let you down occasionally. Other than that, if looked after will go on for many years. Cast iron heat exchangers are bullet proof. Easy to service and repair. Keep it.
