BBC caught out again.

Those morning out the BBC should remember the phone hacking scandal where the press were effectivly allowe to police itself so carried on regardless. Murdoch got away with everything

High time the BBC had its charter revoked and made to operate on a commercial basis. This would mean that the licence fee was also cancelled.

Did you hear that from a media source with a record of tapping phones, and bribing police officers, mortuary attendants and prison guards to scavenge stories?

Youre missing the point that sources like that tell people like Astra99 what they want to hear, not truths which conflict with their prejudices and bigotry.

Glenn Mulcaire was paid £100,000 a year by the News of the World, the court heard

Private investigator Glenn Mulcaire would be "tasked" to target a particular mobile phone number to acquire voicemails and report back to the news desk. Mulcaire kept detailed notes of each operation that he carried out, including the target and who had commissioned him. At one point he was being paid £100,000 a year.

The UK’s culture secretary has ruled out a fresh public inquiry into wrongdoing in the newspaper industry in a victory for newspapers that have lobbied against a second examination of press behaviour. Matt Hancock on Thursday rejected Leveson 2, a follow-up to Lord Justice Leveson’s 2011-12 investigation into the conduct and culture of the UK press.

One rule for Murdochs papers and another for the BBC.

Welcome back Galahad, it's almost like you've never been away.(y)

It was death by MODs firing line and some are not straight shooters. I live to die another day. :ROFLMAO:
Now maybe there's a God above.
All I ever learned from love,
is how to shoot someone who outdrew ya.
But it's not a crime you heard tonight,
it's not some pilgrim who claims to have seen the light.
It's just a cold and very broken Hallelujah.

Leonard Cohen. Hallelujah.

Regarding the 'phone hacking scandal' there were aspects of that which were terrible, particularly in the case of Milly Dowler where the parents were under the impression their daughter was still alive because of activity on the phone.

I was under the impression that 'hacking' the phones involved some sophisticated electronic process whereas it simply involved dialling the number followed by the default pin code set by the manufacturer to remotely retrieve voicemails, which depending on the network could have been 1234 or 3333.

Of course the phone networks said that the users should have changed the pin to their own pin number, but most people didn't.

Oh dear.

BBC investigating Palestinian journalist who tweeted 'Hitler was right' (msn.com)

The BBC has launched an investigation into a Palestinian journalist who tweeted “Hitler was right” and compared Israel to Nazi Germany.

What exactly needs to be investigated?
If she had compared Israel's policy to that of Mao, or Pol Pot or Stalin, that wouldn't have been anti-Semitic.

Edit: Additionally the journalist did not refer to Jews, she referred to the Israeli government and to IDF. Criticism of the Israeli government is not anti-Semitic, per se.

One can understand her emotion at the time, (2014) but not excuse, nor defend her reference to Hitler.
The number of civilians killed during Israel's Operation Protective Edge offensive has raised international concern and condemnation.

Between 8 July and 27 August, (2014) more than 2,100 Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip, along with 66 Israeli soldiers and seven civilians in Israel.

The UN says the vast majority of Palestinian deaths are civilian. But figures from previous operations over the past six years in the densely populated Gaza Strip show it is not the first time civilians have paid a heavy price.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-28439404#:~:text=2014: Operation Protective Edge&text=The UN says at least, during the assault on Gaza.

Frequently the allegation of anti-Semitism is used inappropriately, especially in criticism of Israeli government actions.
