Boiler has been working fine...started locking out at random times usually reset ok. Then yesterday huge clicking no burn and lockout. Stripped the burner out and removed the pump. - sheared drive. Bought a new AS47C pump. Re-assembled all and fired up...all turned ok... but as soon as I turned on the fuel valve it siezed the pump. On releasing the inlet flex pipe it freed up and rotated ok again. I can only get a 'strangled' rotation with the inlet pipe connected. I have tried releasing the outlet pipe to nozzel - no difference. Is the pump set up to work 'out of the box' or have I to do more than just fit it? It may be of interest that if I start the cycle on no fuel input pressure all rotates ok till timeout but if I start on no pressure and then supply fuel it instantly fires up then instantly locks out.
And someone indoors says she is getting cold....
And guidence would be really appreciated.

The new pump will need to be set up and the burner re-commissioned using the proper instruments. It's not advisable to just change the pump.

with a B9 it would be norm to see a danfoss bfp pump, do you have a good fuel flow?, do you have a 1 or 2 pipe supply?, what is the new pump set-up for 1or 2 pipe?,is the new pump the correct rotation?.
Just a few thoughts, still with grain at £175 a ton you could get someone who knows what they are doing to fix it for you  poor old farmers !!!

Don't be silly, he's in wales, so more likely to be buying grain for feed, or finding it difficult to get more than a few £££s for sheep.

Thanks for the replies:
I located some info that a one pipe system has to have a plug removed!!Done that with some success...no siezure type lockups.
now nearly starting as normal...ie goes through the fan running up and the pump solenoid switching in...the electrodes are live and trying hard...but no flame.
I have oil squirting from the slackened nozzle pipe at a good rate.
But no flame.
Please
nb..Not a working farm sadly
And dont mention sheep....

You say the electrodes are live???

That would normally mean they have 12,000 volts across them!!!

That should produce a spark and ignite the oil!

Whats an external gantry crane used for?

Tony

Almost an electronic flame from the electrodes It would ignite any oil...if there was any spraying from the nozzle..but there is not. A damp dribble at best SO?? Blocked nozzle? I suppose it's useless to say it was alright before the shaft broke!!
I'll try to get a nozzle in the morning.

Go on then Tony.....Whats an external gantry crane used for?

It really does sound as if the only problem is a blocked nozzle! Thats why all oil passages must be kept totally clean!

A farm with your name has applied for PP for a gantry crane. Although the LA may have muddled that up with the Steel Works application!

Tony

as the pump temporarly sized check the drive coupling did you replace it with the pump.

you also need to set your oil presure with a gauge and air setting with a pump.
sometimes easyer to get someone out

O/P: You have probably wrecked your AS47C pump and the drive coupler, the correct pump is a BFP41L3 !!.
AGILE: How sad are you looking up O/P'S planning
OILMAN:mainly mixed farming in that area, but take your wellies anyway
TERRYWOOKFIT: spot on
