For the people that, for some reason, like Bernard Manning, one of their mantras is on the lines of 'Good Old Bernard ! He tells it as he sees it, and he doesn't care who he upsets. He doesn't keep quiet because what he say isn't deemed acceptable in this day and age'. For that reason, surely they should be applauding Softus too, no ? Or do we have double standards when going on about double standards ?
Personally, I wouldn't say I was glad he was dead, but its no loss to the world either. People who say that 'Its only a joke' are underestimating the power of humour - It gives feelings of validity to the more unpleasant members of his audience.

I loved this guy's humour and I'm not racist, sexist or any other 'ist.
The fact is that nowadays we can only legitimately make jokes about able bodied white heterosexual christian men and the World is a far worse place as a result IMO.
No subject should be off limits where humour is concerned and the reason we have a segregated community is because we have segregated standards of acceptable behaviour.
Why is it okay for black comics to tell jokes about black people without offence but not white comics?
Why are all equality and diversity officers from minority backgrounds?
Why do we end up having to appoint 5' tall scrawny women fire fighters who couldn't possibly carry me down the ladder when my house was burning down?
Utter nonsense, society gone mad.
