best room thermostat

am I correct that a Honeywell digital is probably the best to get ?
It all depends on what you are actually trying to achieve e.g. best comfort level, lowest gasbill, best value for money, highest reliability.
And don't say a bit of both, because the goals are not compatible.

Mysteryman raises a valid point.

DH, as the state nears the desired ambient temperature, and starts to narrow the burner firing duration, and the boiler is in moulation and may have shut down the burners to go into sleep mode for anticycling delay. Now the TPI stat calls but boiler electronics say 'TPI I am not playing with you', how does the TPI then control the room temperature?

this thread is ridiculous. the op just wanted a recommendation for a half decent thermostat and its turned into a di*k swinging contest.
Why cant people just recommend something and move on.

Some big kahunas being swung around in here.

Can't beat a mechanical stat with dead band set around 1.5/2k , reduced boiler cycling , cheap as chips & a monkey can use it.

If TPI causes so many problems to boilers, why are all the digital stats made by Honeywell equipped with TPI? The only stat they make which does not have TPI is the T6360. Presumably the "problems" are more theoretical than real.

TPI can cause isues when switching conventional type boilers that incorporate on/off control (cycling) , not so much an issue when used in conjunction with modulating/condensing boilers , sensor position is also a factor to be considered regards dead band differential/air changes.

No big Kahunas being swung here , just simple fact.
