Betacom C24 "flashing flames" 90 condensate issue

We have a boiler that exhibited this error.

Condensate pipe is indoors, so no freezing pipe issue - Glowworm suggested taking off the earth lead - boiler worked. They told us to dry the connection after removing it at the condensate pipe and so when replaced worked (there was a droplet of water on the connection, which I guess was causing it to earth).

It worked for a few hours and now has shown the same error.

I know this is a known error with this boiler, but what is the solution, replacement part, or workaround?

The best way to overcome this problem is to get a second condense cap. (The little blue plastic piece with two metal probes in it) fit one wire and cap in the top of the condense trap. Then remove the blue blanking plug and fit second condense cap with the other wire in the side of the trap. Occasionally it can cause a problem but very rarely.

Ok - so that keeps the terminals far enough apart so that a droplet of water doesn't register a fault - and it is close enough so that when the trap fills so it can register the fault - it will definitely short at that distance?

I spoke with glow worm and they said that the normal cause is that the trap hasn't been filled with water, however its been working for a couple of months, and I wouold have thought that in that time the trap would have filled sufficiently from the condensate anyway? I cannot see by inspection whether there is any water in the trap, but there is none feeling in the top after removing the cap. What level of water should there be in there - there doesn't appear to be a marker on the trap? How is this filled and to what level - can it be filled by removing the the internal black condensate pipe from the trap since the water level needs to be below this point anyway?

Hi I am new to the site but have the very same problem with condensate trap sensor on my glow worm combi. Does the second cap workaround suggested work and is it a safe option? I am a novice but have performed the sensor drying routine three times now in space of a few weeks so am keen to learn of a more permanent solution. Cheers.

Not being in any way an expert on such things i am just being overly cautious! I will order a second cap and give it a go. Hopefully it will do the trick and get the missus off my case at the same time!
