JUst had BG to look at gas combi for service quote.
Only fault found was the filling loop consisted of a fixed Gate Valve (fitted a month ago by a CORGI registered plumber).

To remove the Gate Valve a fit a proper filling loop BG's quote was £230

Considering the loop complete with the two 15mm fittings and valves is £7 in my local Bulders Merchant and I reckon the job will take around 1 hour, is the BG quote a real bargain

they gave you a quote

you refused it as you found it cheaper some where else, so where is the "Rip Off"

Bet you dont go screaming to Sainsburys when you find you could have brought a bag of taters 10p in tescos?

that is quite a high quote though.

maybe he didnt like you and didnt want to do the job.

call the bloke and ask him to fit a standard filling loop as BG say it's wrong.

Whats the problem?, its not as if you need to have it put right anyways do you?

oi leave BG alone :D
to be fair that is expensive even for us.take up the 3 star cover costs bout 170 quid a year then this will get done for you

But would not BG refuse to take this on a contract until put right?

no it wont.

pre existing defect.

Chances are theyd take it on contract, depends on whos looking at it. but if it did get taken on they wont fix it as said, pre existing fault.

And it is definietly wrong, as it part of the water regs so you cant have a permanent connection from dirty water to clean water supply to stop contamination. However ive never heard of anyone being made to fix it. one of those regs that theres no one to enforce.

£230 odd quid sounds like the valve + 3 hours labour which is rediculous (if its as straighforward as it sounds), but as said its a quote, not like they did the work and then charged a huge amount.

SGM

yes sorry that doesnt seem very clear.

it wouldnt get sorted for free as chilli seems to think, but it would get on contract albeit with a pre existing defect.

actually i should say it shouldnt be sorted for free. some muppet might do it for free.

balls to the LD.......t+c's access jobs are where the real performance is

Is it down to the engineer on site to make his own quote up or do you work from a set 'quote sheet'?
