BG slapped notice on boiler in 1980s flat.

It's serious matter. If one flat is dangerous then it follows that the others must also be.

WHy??????

All the others might have had vents put in, therefore they are not 'AR'!! Have you visually inpsected every one? Do you know the vent/air requirements?

Why don't we ask the OP? Did BG ask them? Either it's serious to one and serious to all or it isn't.

You really are that daft? what makes you think that all of the appliances in 20 - 30 year old flats are the same? what makes you think its something to do with the construction from new that has caused the issue?

The boiler could have simply failed due to lack of servicing whilst the other 79 have been maintained?

You don't know the answer to any of those questions, and you don't care.

Talk about chip on the shoulder! your carrying a sack of King Edwards around with you,.

How would the engineer even know the other flats had the same boiler?

How would he get access, he has no rights to? assuming people were home.

This arguement is moot. He has deemed it unsafe as per his guidelines, primarly P4 (unsafe situations) - derived from the GSIUR!

If he thinks he wrong, get BG in agai to explain why.

Its akin to asking an MOT engineer to slap fails on all Ford's in the garage becuase the ford he is working on has a bald tyre. Doesnt mean the others Ford's have a bald trye!

But Ford do a recall when there is a known fault don't they? Didn't the OP say all the flats were the same age same gear?

Joe 90 the RGI would have to be invited into each flat he can't simply walk in THATS THE LAW K**b

"This is in a flat in a building with 80 other identical installations, none of which has killed or harmed its occupants in over 25 years as far as he knows."

This sounds like a typical Bg cant be bothered job i mean he should have went around every single flat and checked them then carried on up the street and then stayed a bit later at work and checked the whole town after all if one 25 year old combi is at fault all the other appliances in that town must be.

Never fails to amaze me how people call you out for safety then moan like fek when you do your job and turn them off and potentially save their and their families lives

Shouldn't there be a law that says that the occupants of the other flats should at least be made aware by letter?

Ok lets say it one last time for the forum clown:

Nobody here knows what the fault was, so to make the assumption that every flat must have the same fault make you look simple.....

Can you now see that you have made a bit of an error?

I hope so, cos I can't think of a more basic way to describe it!

Thats a different arguement altogether.

You can only class an appliance when you are working on it. As above, where does it stop, every 1980's flat with x boiler be told to turn off their boiler??? The only time a boiler would be recalled would be if there was a serious manufacturing default, not becuase of an installation fault, which, if it is the vents, might have been fine back in the 80s, but now classed at AR!

If I was expected to write a letter to 79 other households in the same block just because something or nothing is wrong with my ONE customer I would walk away from every job Have you any idea what it would cost to send a letter to 79 flats in time materials (stationary and Postage) all of these other flates SHOULD have their own service company who if a fault existed would have already taken the "appropriate" action

THE END :!:
