are these marks near the damp patch on the wall you mentioned earlier?
No, not on the same wall, unfortunately. That area has dried up and the sill beaded with silicone. No issues since.
The wall in question is on the RH side of the previous image, if looking towards the house.
I'm wondering if they are to do with internal restraint straps or some such and they have reacted or rusted..?
