How not to make off the junction box for your wall lights

Oh this kind of 'junction' isn't unusual!

Last week, I got mildly stung by a wasp, in a loft, in the dark. At least I thought I was being stung until I shone the torch on the little git and found that I was kneeling on a live and bare phase wire that had been rather imaginatively "joined" onto the lighting loop.

I must have been pretty well insulated, as I felt only a few seconds of mild fizzing on the flesh on my kneecap

Similar to Softus - I once went to a house where, officially, the electricity had been cut off for non-payment. There were lots of newish electrical appliances so I thought something was fishy. Careful examination of the cellar showed a camouflaged entry into the cellar of the dentist's surgery next door and a coil of flex with crocodile clips connected to the CU. In the dentist's cellar all seemed OK at first glance, but careful examination of the tails showed that darning needles had been pushed through ( ). Dentist goes home at 6 - connect up until 7am - disconnect - dentist arrives at 8.

Do not worry. I cut off that old green 6mm2 main earth ) as part of replacing the Dist Board for a nice shiny new one. It is now re-instated in 25mm2 (All the power was off at the time)
