Seem to remember a story bout these give you certain immunity from getting your collar felt if affixed to the vehicle. A white circle with a picture of a black rat in it. Can anyone shed more light on this pls. Saw one again today and it's been bugging me like mad

Thanks fellas

Was that a guess ? I seem to remember it being something about an army regiment possibly if that helps

From an ebay listing

Originally Met traffic officer. Now in general use. Allegedly chosen as a motif because it's one of the only animals that'll actually eat it's own young! Until fairly recently a traffic officer could place a black rat sticker in their private car as an unobtrusive way of 'showing out' to colleagues, in the hope that they wouldn't get pulled for driving offences etc.Who knows !!!!

A black rat is a traffic cop of any force

My understanding is they called themselves black rats cause they love to "eat their own"

IE they LOOOVE nicking other coppers
