I recently tried to replace a double socket, but the 'Ring Main' cabling is too short for the new socket. Therefore I would now like to take this socket out of service.

Can i use a suitable 30A 'Choc-Block' to connect the cabling together and a blanking plate with a 'Disconnect mains before Opening' label or Do I have to make a permenant connection with crimp connectors, the blanking plate + label?

If you've got a crimping tool (one of these:

not one of these:

)

then why not use it to extend the cables so you can fit a socket?

As for removing it, choc-block or crimps will be OK, and you don't need a label on the blanking plate.
