Hi
I have my Virgin cable coming directly through my wall into the living room from outside. I'm thinking of buying a blanking plate and drilling a hole in the middle to feed the cable through and then fixing this plate directly to my wall to look neater(without using a back box). Would the original (machined) screws be ok screwed into a wall plug? If not, what screw would you recommend (that looks like the originals).

Yo can buy flex plates that already have a pre-drilled hole.

Some may come with electrical terminations on the plate but some come without that, so in reality a blanking plate with a hole for the cable in it.
You may find that the MS screw may not grip in to raw plugs that securely.
It may be a better option to use an oval-headed wood screw.
